Version 1.0
iPhone, iOS 17 or later. One purchase, $9.99, every feature included.
The first release. What it does:
- Record a session films your range session with the back camera at the highest frame rate your iPhone offers, with sound, and saves the recording to Photos. Or choose a video you already filmed from Photos.
- One clip per swing. Impact Reel listens for each ball strike, checks the picture for a swing, and cuts a clip around every impact. Likely swings come first; uncertain ones wait in their own tab so nothing is lost. Review opens while the video loads and the swings appear as they are found.
- Lines and a head ring. Ready-made shaft start line, foot line, head ring and vertical line, plus lines of your own with color, width and line ends. Apply one set to every clip in a session.
- A tracer in a few steps. Mark the ball at address, two frames just after impact, the apex and the landing; the tracer follows the flight. Choose a line, a highlight or a follow trail, and nudge any point with the arrows.
- Slow motion and frame steps. Half, quarter or eighth speed, with handles on the timeline for the slow section; video filmed at 120 or 240 fps stays smooth. Videos shared with the slow motion baked in are recognized and counted in real seconds.
- Swing Sequence. Twelve pictures of one swing from address to finish, saved as twelve photos or one square card.
- Notes, stars and a library. A note on any swing, a star on the ones worth keeping, and the Saved Swings list to see the change over weeks. Starred swings also land in a Best Swings album.
- Save and share. A plain clip is cut from your video with no re-encoding. Save with the markup, or as a replay that plays clean and then again with the lines, or share a clip straight from the player. Each session gets its own Photos album.
- Private. Everything runs on your iPhone. No account, no ads, no tracking, nothing uploaded.
Lines and tracers are visual aids, not measurements. Swings are found by hearing the strike, so it works best with video filmed close to the golfer: see how to film your golf swing with an iPhone.
Coming later
A Mac app for reviewing and comparing swings on a bigger screen, and a Range mode that catches each swing live at the range. Dates follow here when they are set.
