Common questions
Impact Reel can't load my videos, or says Photos access is off
Open the iPhone Settings app, choose Impact Reel, then Photos, and allow access. If you chose Limited Access, make sure the videos you want are in the selection (Edit Selected Photos) or allow access to all photos.
It found no swings, or missed some
Open Settings in the app (the gear on the import screen) and set Sensitivity to High, then run the video again. Quiet or distant strikes, and windy conditions, can be missed. Film closer to the golfer with no other golfers in frame for best results (see how to film your swing). If nothing is found, the app automatically tries High once before telling you. In a video up to a minute long the app also looks at the golfer's movement, so keep the golfer in frame.
Does it work with GoPro or other action cameras?
It is built and tested around iPhone video. Footage from other cameras may produce more false clips.
There are too many false clips
Clips the app is unsure about are in the Uncertain tab and start crossed out. When the app can see the golfer, a clip only stays in Likely if it sees the swing itself, so practice swings and a neighbor's strike go to Uncertain. In Likely, tap the X on any clip to leave it out, and the app learns from that. On a noisy range, try Sensitivity Low.
Two swings were merged into one clip
Impact Reel keeps one swing per time window (10 seconds by default). If you hit balls quickly, shorten the window in Settings under Swing window.
How do I change how much video each clip keeps?
On the Review screen, tap the folded row at the top (Clip name, album and settings) and open Clip Settings to change the seconds before and after impact for all clips, or use the steppers on a single clip.
How do I name my clips or pick the album?
On the Review screen, tap the folded row at the top (Clip name, album and settings) and type a name in the Clip name box (numbers are added automatically). Under it, Export to shows the album. By default each session gets its own album, named from your clip name and the date (for example “Driver Range - 2026-10-12”). Change lets you pick another album or create a new one, which turns off New album for each session in Settings.
Can I save just one clip?
Yes. Each clip on the Review screen has an Export button. Use the X on a clip to leave it out of Save without removing it from the list.
Can I send a clip without saving it first?
Yes. Open the clip full screen and tap the share icon next to the star. The clip is prepared as it would be saved (with its slow motion and, if you have lines, with the lines) and handed to the iOS share sheet.
Is the export lossless?
A plain clip is cut straight from your original video with no re-encoding: lossless, at full quality and resolution. A clip with slow motion or lines in it is rendered fresh at the highest quality.
Where do my Swing Sequence pictures go?
Into the same Photos album as your clips. Open a clip full screen, tap the Swing Sequence button (a small grid of twelve frames), then tap Save 12 photos or Save Swing Sequence (one square image of all twelve). A button reads Saved until you move a picture. If Photos access is off, turn it on in iPhone Settings > Impact Reel > Photos.
A Swing Sequence picture is at the wrong moment
Tap the picture, then step it with the 1 and 10 frame buttons; Reset puts it back where it started. The pictures before and after impact sit halfway between the pictures either side of them, and follow those when you step them, until you step one of them yourself. The starting moments are typical ones for each position, so adjust them to your swing.
Processing a long video takes a while
After it hears the strikes, Impact Reel checks each clip's frames for the golfer's swing, on your iPhone. The progress bar says Checking each swing during that stage; a video several hours long can take a few minutes. Nothing is uploaded.
Swings keep appearing after the list opened
That is the second look. While Looking for more swings shows at the top of the Review screen, the app re-checks spots where a louder sound hid a swing and adds any it confirms, selected, at their place in the video. Save All works at any time; a swing found after a save is unsaved, and the Saved screen offers Review N clips not saved yet to go back and save it.
The Review screen says slow motion was found in my video
A video that was exported or shared already slowed down (for example by AirDrop, Messages or Save to Files) is stretched in the file itself. Impact Reel recognizes such a part by its sound and analyzes it in real time, so clips keep their real length. If a part was not really slowed down, tap Analyze again at normal speed on the notice. You can turn this off in Settings with Find slow-motion videos. An iPhone Slo-mo video you pick from Photos needs none of this.
My video is sideways or upside down
When the app can see the golfer it turns the video upright on its own and shows a notice with Undo. If it did not, tap the rotate button on the Review screen.
How do I reset what the app has learned?
In Settings, choose Reset learned profile. Your settings and saved clips are not affected.
Does Impact Reel collect my data?
No. Everything happens on your iPhone. See the privacy policy.
